Your music, and the thoughts you are now sharing, are like a salve for sometimes broken hearted souls like myself. Such is life I guess, but we struggle to find the words to express emotions that seem so much bigger than ourselves, and yet, we find ways to carry on nonetheless, even well beyond when we were seventeen. Thank you so much for bringing voice to your own emotions, and in so doing, bringing voice to ours as well. We all walk a little bit easier with musical companions such as this, don't we? Oh, and before I forget, kudos for the Sharon Van Etten reference. The tapestry of musical influences, including your own, keep us feeling so safe and warm when the cold harsh winds are blowing on the pathways of our lives. Peace & Love & Weightless Towards The Ground, Always!
This version hits differently. When art can make you stop, think, feel, remember . . . . . Well, this song and your voice does all of that. Thank you for sharing. Cool photo, too!
I really do not like young ones writing sad songs!your supposed to be having too much life going on but at least you can see that you can get over stuff that’s not really all that what you thought it was!
Thank you for this, Jade! This is my favourite song of yours (and I’m a big fan, I really love all of your music, AND your covers, you’ve got such a gift!!) 💛💛💛
Such a beautiful and heart-breaking song. This has always been one of my favorites, and it still hits just as hard as the first time I heard it. That new verse is incredible! I could listen to both versions all day. Thank you so much for sharing this 🧡
JADE... this is awesome ❤❤❤ Thank you so much for sharing with all of us... and thank you so much for sharing so much with us! I know how cathartic it is for one's self, to write & sing and all,, but to let others in on it is... a whole other level. Love to you girl!!
Jade !!! I just saw you play before My Morning Jacket in Richmond VA. I met you at the merch tent for minute. I wish I hadn't let my consideration of those behind me rush our short convo. I would have liked to talk quite a bit more. We talked shortly about the similarities between our dads and your song ( I'm blanking on the name ) but how I find your music liberating. I know your tour dates are taking you west. I also know you must come east to go home. haha Consider a stop in Boston, I'd love to sit and chat over some of the best pizza. I know it's not fish and chips but we can find that also. What an amazing surprise !!!! I had no idea you were playing before them until you opened with Uh Huh. I'm still smiling "like a little boy". Thank You for lighting up my joy
When I first-listened the bridge in 17 I recall the "wow, that was a cool change" feel of it. I've heard similar changes a few times in the past, but your use of it inspired me to reach a little farther out when creating my own ...so there's that, I guess, but what's really interesting about your writing is the way you work your way back from your "middle 8". In this case, ending on the same chord as chorus start, something I tend to avoid, but you make it seem ...comfortable, which, again, inspires another look at it. Anyway, I'll close this by saying the change at 1:10, into what I'd call a pre-chorus caught me here and I think that is definitely recyclable too, a nice bit of breakdown.
I am very grateful for the music you make. I discovered you a few years ago and from that day on I fell completely in love with your voice and your music. Thank you for doing what you do, I hope to fulfill my dream of seeing you sing in a show one day.

Shivers down my spine- moving and sad. But a joy to hear. 😊
